Workforce Group are currently working with a well-established precision engineering and manufacturing business that is looking to recruit two experienced Laser Setter Operators to join their growing production team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Laser Setter Operator looking to join a professional, modern manufacturing environment with long-term stability, overtime opportunities and the chance to develop their skills.
The Role
As a Laser Setter Operator, you will be responsible for setting, operating and monitoring laser cutting machinery to produce high-quality components in line with engineering drawings, customer specifications and production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set, operate and monitor CNC laser cutting machinery.
- Complete machine set-ups, adjustments and tooling changes.
- Load and unload sheet metal and other materials safely.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Carry out quality checks using verniers, micrometers, gauges and other measuring equipment.
- Make adjustments where required to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Identify and report machine, quality or production issues.
- Complete production paperwork and records accurately.
- Carry out routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping and a clean, safe working environment.
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Work closely with the wider production team to achieve deadlines and targets.
- Support other areas of production when required.
About You
We are looking for someone with previous experience setting and operating laser cutting machinery within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
You should be confident working from engineering drawings and have a strong understanding of dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience operating laser cutting machinery.
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or sheet metal environment.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Experience using verniers, micrometers and gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and flexible approach to work.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable working rotating shifts.
Desirable
- Experience with CNC laser cutting machinery.
- Previous sheet metal manufacturing experience.
- FLT licence.
- Overhead crane experience.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement.
