Overview
Workforce Group are currently working with a leading precision engineering manufacturer seeking an experienced CNC Laser Setter / Operator to join their production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled laser professional who can confidently set, operate, and adjust CNC laser cutting machines, ensuring high-quality components are produced efficiently and to exact specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Set up, configure, and operate CNC laser cutting machines
- Load correct programs and carry out machine adjustments where required
- Select appropriate tooling and complete machine changeovers
- Load and unload sheet materials safely and efficiently
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications accurately
- Conduct in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring equipment
- Ensure all components meet strict internal and customer quality standards
- Monitor machine performance and optimise output efficiency
- Identify and resolve basic production or machine issues
- Complete production documentation and quality records accurately
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic preventative maintenance tasks
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment (5S standards)
- Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company policies at all times
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across production
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to meet targets
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Proven experience as a CNC Laser Setter / Operator
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience using precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, gauges)
- Experience setting and operating CNC laser cutting machinery
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive mindset
- Good understanding of Health & Safety in manufacturing environments
- Reliable, flexible, and good communication skills
Desirable
- Sheet metal or precision engineering background
- Experience with systems such as Trumpf / Bystronic / Amada
- FLT licence or overhead crane experience
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
