Mechanical Inspector
Location: Esher, Surrey
Salary: Β£18.00 - Β£20.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours: 39 hours per week
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
The Opportunity
Our client is an established and growing precision engineering company based in Surrey, specialising in the manufacture of high-quality precision-machined components and mechanical assemblies.
Working across technically demanding sectors including Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Oil & Gas and other specialist industries, the company has built a strong reputation for quality, precision and customer service.
Due to continued growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join their team on a permanent basis.
The Role
As Mechanical Inspector, you will be responsible for inspecting precision-machined components throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring all products meet the required engineering drawings, specifications and customer quality standards.
You will work closely with the production and engineering teams to identify and resolve quality issues, while maintaining accurate inspection records and ensuring a consistently high standard of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out in-process and final inspection of precision-machined components.

Inspect components against engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.

Accurately measure components using a range of inspection equipment, including:

Verniers
-
Micrometers
-
Height gauges / height towers
-
Gauges and other precision measuring equipment

Interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and geometric requirements.

Carry out first-off and inspection activities as required.

Complete inspection documentation and dimensional reports accurately.

Identify and report non-conforming components.

Work alongside machinists and engineers to investigate and resolve quality issues.

Maintain full traceability and accurate inspection records.

Support the company's commitment to continuous improvement and maintaining high quality standards.

Maintain a clean, organised and professional inspection environment.
Essential Requirements
-
Previous experience working as a Mechanical Inspector / Quality Inspector within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.

Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.
-
Practical experience using inspection equipment such as verniers, micrometers and height gauges/towers.

Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
-
Good communication skills.
-
Must have the right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
-
Previous experience within the Aerospace industry.
-
CMM experience.
-
Experience working within an AS9100 / EN 9100 environment.

Experience inspecting tight-tolerance, precision-machined components.

Experience with First Article Inspection / FAIR documentation.

Previous CNC machining or precision engineering experience.
