We are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to join a busy and growing operation based in Birmingham (B26). This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual to oversee daily transport operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance and high levels of customer service.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing drivers, coordinating fleet activity and ensuring all transport operations run smoothly and in line with legal and company requirements.
Responsibilities- Oversee the day-to-day running of transport operations
- Manage driver schedules, routes and vehicle allocations efficiently
- Ensure compliance with all transport legislation, including Driver Hours, Tachograph and WTD regulations
- Monitor fleet performance, vehicle maintenance schedules and servicing requirements
- Lead and support transport staff and drivers to ensure high performance standards
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal departments regarding deliveries and operational requirements
- Investigate and resolve transport-related issues and delays promptly
- Ensure all transport documentation and records are maintained accurately
- Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
- Promote and maintain high standards of health and safety throughout the operation
- Previous experience within a Transport Manager or Senior Transport Planner position
- Strong knowledge of transport compliance and fleet management
- CPC qualification essential
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Confident managing teams and prioritising workloads
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and transport management systems
