I'm working with a highly respected accountancy practice in Bromsgrove that's looking to appoint an Assistant Tax Manager to join its growing Tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional looking to move beyond pure compliance and develop their advisory experience. You'll work closely with senior leaders, manage your own portfolio and play a key role in mentoring junior team members, all while building the skills and confidence needed to progress into a Tax Manager position.

The Role
You'll take ownership of a varied client portfolio, managing a portfolio of personal tax clients and overseeing their UK tax compliance. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing UK tax returns, ensuring accuracy and identifying planning opportunities.
- Supporting Managers and Directors on more complex tax matters and advisory projects.
- Reviewing the work of junior team members and providing guidance where needed.
- Managing workflow across your portfolio to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- Assisting clients with tax queries and developing strong professional relationships.
- Working closely with internal teams to deliver an excellent client experience.
- Researching technical tax matters and contributing to advisory projects.
- Supporting the ongoing development of the wider tax team through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
You will need...
- Strong personal tax experience gained within an accountancy practice.
- CTA qualified, or close to completing your qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Experience reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues.
- Confidence managing your own workload and client relationships.
- Exposure to international tax matters, residency issues or double tax treaties would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive attitude and genuine ambition to progress into a Tax Manager role.
