About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Laser Setter / Operator to set, operate, and maintain flatbed laser cutting machines within a precision engineering and fabrication environment. This role is key to ensuring high-quality output, efficiency, and adherence to production schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate flatbed laser cutting machines (fiber/CO2)
- Load and unload sheet material safely and efficiently
- Interpret engineering drawings and cutting schedules
- Set correct parameters including power, speed, gas, and focus
- Monitor cutting quality and adjust where required
- Carry out basic machine maintenance and fault finding
- Inspect cut parts to ensure accuracy and quality standards are met
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Work closely with production and fabrication teams
- Meet daily production targets and deadlines
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience setting and operating flat bed laser cutting machines
- Experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards
- Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Awareness of health & safety within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience with laser brands such as Bystronic, Amada, Trumpf, or Mazak
- Background in sheet metal or fabrication environments
- Forklift or overhead crane experience
