Job Title: Fabricator / MIG Welder Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands Hourly Rate: Β£19.00 per hour Shift: Day shift 40 hours About the Role We are looking for an experienced Fabricator / MIG Welder to join a well-established engineering and fabrication company in West Bromwich. The role involves welding mild steel components ranging from 2mm to 15mm thickness, as well as fabricating steel assemblies for industrial equipment and material handling systems. This is a hands-on, workshop-based position suited to someone with strong MIG welding experience and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to work to high standards in a busy fabrication environment. Key Responsibilities * Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and work orders. * Prepare steel sections, plates, and profiles for cutting, shaping, and assembly. * Perform MIG welding on mild steel components ranging from 2mm to 15mm thickness. * Fabricate frames, hoppers, chutes, conveyors, and other steel components for industrial applications. * Ensure correct fit-up, alignment, and dimensional accuracy of all components. * Grind, drill, and finish parts to meet quality and specification requirements. * Perform regular quality checks to ensure welded parts meet industry standards. * Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace, adhering to all health and safety regulations. Skills & Experience Required * Proven experience as a Fabricator / MIG Welder in a heavy or structural steel environment. * Skilled in MIG welding on mild steel, with the ability to weld components ranging from 2mm to 15mm thickness. * Strong understanding of fabrication techniques, tolerances, and welding quality standards. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and work orders. * Experience working with heavy plate and structural steel. * Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work. * Relevant welding or fabrication qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) preferred. * Health & safety-conscious with a proactive approach to maintaining a safe working environment.
