About the Role
A leading provider of engineering services and solutions across Defence, Rail, Automotive, and Agriculture sectors is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager. Role Purpose
As Engineering Project Manager, you will lead and coordinate engineering activities across the business. You will oversee both the Production Engineering and Design teams, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and to high technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day operations of the Production Engineering and Design departments.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support technical delivery and continuous improvement.
* Engage in all phases of the project lifecycle, from concept through to production and delivery.
* Report against and deliver on relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Drive a culture of on-time delivery, cost control, and high-quality output.
* Support the promotion of safe working practices, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance.
* Lead initiatives around Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
* Mentor and develop team members to ensure long-term skills growth and operational efficiency.
* Conduct and participate in Design Reviews to ensure standards and specifications are met.
* Manage project documentation including Process Instructions, Test Instructions, and BOMs.
* Validate BOM structures and facilitate the Engineering Change Notification (ECN) system.
* Act as the primary technical contact for customers during the engineering phases of projects.
* Contribute to the development of business systems, budgets, and strategic improvements.
* Support NPI (New Product Introduction) and prototype production in coordination with cross-functional teams.
* Identify and mitigate risks while developing operational opportunities.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years\’ experience in a similar engineering or manufacturing role.
* Solid understanding of BS EN ISO standards (especially BS 8888).
* Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Experienced in document and data control, with a focus on quality.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
* Strong IT skills with high attention to detail.
* Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach.
* Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability.
* Familiar with CAPEX processes, Lean principles, and strategic improvement planning.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* Lean Six Sigma certification or training.
* Experience in NPI, planning, and full product lifecycle.
* Working knowledge of standards such as ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, 3834, EN 15085.
* Background in Defence, Aerospace, or Rail, with familiarity in Def-Stan / Mil-Std / RIS.
* Member of (or working towards) a professional institution like IMechE, IET, etc.
