About the Company
Our client is a global leader in industrial automation, specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke engineering solutions for leading brands worldwide. Based at a modern 75,000 sq. ft. engineering and manufacturing facility in Wakefield, the business is experiencing continued growth and is looking to strengthen its machining team with an experienced CNC Miller β Programmer / Setter / Operator. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC Miller to work on a varied range of low-volume, high-precision components and bespoke engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, programme and operate HAAS 3-axis vertical machining centres (VF2 to VF9).
- Manufacture precision component parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
- Carry out in-process inspection using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and workmanship.
- Keep the work area clean, organised and safe.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
- Undertake additional duties and responsibilities as required to support the production team.
Qualifications
- City & Guilds qualification (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline (desirable).
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience setting, programming and operating HAAS CNC milling machines.
- Programming experience is highly advantageous.
- Ability to use a range of precision inspection and measuring equipment.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
- Ability to consistently produce components to tight tolerances.
- Good awareness of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge and experience of 4th and 5th axis machining would be advantageous.
