CNC Machinist/Toolmaker Location: Redditch

Salary: £17.00 to £19.00 per hour + Shift allowance (£50.50 per week)

Hours: Week 1: Monday to Friday 6am to 2pm / Week 2: Monday to Thursday 2pm to 12am

Overview: An established precision engineering manufacturer is seeking a skilled CNC Miller/Toolmaker to join their Toolroom team. The successful candidate will report to the Toolroom Team Leader and be responsible for manufacturing tooling to precise engineering drawings within tight tolerances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a range of Toolroom machinery.
  • Manufacture extrusion, mould, and finish dies from raw materials.
  • Manufacture single-stage clip tools.
  • Carry out surface grinding, manual milling, and turning.
  • Set, and operate 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling machines (Heidenhain and Winmax controls).
  • Polish components to a 320-grain finish.
  • Conduct manual compensation and bench work.
  • Service, repair, and maintain tools (PPM).
  • Respond to breakdowns and production issues efficiently.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Time-served, apprentice-trained Toolmaker (or minimum 5 years’ Toolroom experience).
  • Skilled in setting and operating CNC machinery.
  • Background in hot metal or heavy manufacturing (aerospace/automotive preferred).
  • Strong understanding of material science and metallurgy.
  • Confident communicator and team player.
  • Competent in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Proficient with precision measuring equipment (micrometres, height gauges, imperial and metric).
  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and initiative.
