We are recruiting for an experienced Purchasing Lead to join a growing manufacturing business. You will be responsible for leading all purchasing activities across the organisation, ensuring materials are sourced cost‑effectively, supplier performance is optimised, and production requirements are fully supported.
This is a key role within the business, working closely with Production, Engineering, Finance, and Senior Management to support operational efficiency, cash flow, and long‑term strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives
- Lead supplier negotiations on pricing, contracts, and long‑term agreements
- Identify cost‑saving and value engineering opportunities and benchmark raw material pricing
- Support growth into regulated sectors including aerospace and defence
- Raise and manage purchase orders in line with MRP requirements
- Monitor supplier schedules and OTIF performance to ensure on‑time delivery
- Expedite critical parts and resolve supply issues
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data including pricing, lead times, and MOQ
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and conduct performance reviews
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to improve cost and reduce risk
- Support supplier corrective actions and ensure compliance with industry standards
- Control purchasing spend and support budget management
- Work with Finance on cash flow planning and improvement
