Graduate Quantity Surveyor / Trainee Estimator Location: Dereham, Norfolk Salary: £27,000–£30,000 depending on experience Our client is an established construction subcontractor based in Dereham, approximately 15 miles west of Norwich. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Graduate Quantity Surveyor who is keen to develop a career in estimating and commercial management. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate to join an experienced team and receive practical, hands-on training. You will learn how to review drawings and specifications, prepare quotations, obtain supplier and subcontractor prices, complete take-offs and assist with the preparation of competitive tenders. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced estimators and commercial professionals, gaining exposure to live construction projects from the initial enquiry stage through to contract award. Responsibilities * Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation * Completing measurements and material take-offs * Obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor quotations * Assisting with the preparation of estimates and tender submissions * Identifying potential risks, exclusions and commercial considerations * Maintaining accurate estimating and project records * Liaising with clients, suppliers and internal project teams * Supporting the wider commercial team as required Candidate Requirements * A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline * A genuine interest in developing a career in estimating * Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills * Good attention to detail * Confident using Microsoft Excel and other standard software * Previous construction or estimating experience would be beneficial but is not essential * Able to commute to Dereham, Norfolk The position offers a salary of £27,000–£30,000, depending on experience, along with structured training, career progression and the opportunity to build a long-term career with a successful specialist subcontractor
