An established groundworks contractor based in Gloucester is looking to recruit an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with a few years’ experience who is looking to develop their career within a busy contractor working across groundworks, civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
The Role
Working alongside the commercial and operational teams, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account. Typical duties will include:
- Preparing and submitting valuations
- Managing subcontractor accounts
- Procurement of subcontractors and materials
- Measuring works and preparing cost reports
- Pricing and agreeing variations
- Monitoring project costs against budgets
- Preparing monthly commercial reports
- Supporting cash flow and forecasting
- Managing applications for payment
- Assisting with contract administration
- Attending site and commercial meetings
- Working closely with Contracts Managers, Site Managers and clients
- Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts
The Candidate
Applicants should have previous Quantity Surveying experience within groundworks, civil engineering or a related construction environment. You should have:
- Previous experience working as an Assistant or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
- Experience of groundworks and/or civil engineering projects
- Good commercial awareness
- Experience with valuations, variations and subcontractor accounts
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- The ability to manage your own workload and priorities
- A relevant Quantity Surveying or construction qualification would be advantageous
Experience of groundworks, drainage, foundations, roads, infrastructure, earthworks or reinforced concrete would be particularly relevant.
