We are recruiting for an Assistant to Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join a growing construction company. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some practical Quantity Surveying experience who is ready to take on more responsibility and continue developing towards a fully-fledged Quantity Surveyor position. You will work closely with senior commercial staff and project teams, supporting the financial and contractual management of live construction projects from procurement through to final account.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting with project cost control and commercial reporting
  • Preparing and reviewing subcontractor enquiries
  • Obtaining and comparing quotations
  • Assisting with subcontractor procurement and appointments
  • Preparing valuations and payment applications
  • Reviewing subcontractor applications and payments
  • Monitoring project costs against budgets
  • Managing variations and change control
  • Assisting with forecasting and cash flow
  • Supporting the preparation of final accounts
  • Attending site and commercial meetings
  • Liaising with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and clients
  • Maintaining accurate commercial and contractual records
  • Assisting with the identification and management of commercial risk

The ideal candidate:

  • Previous experience working as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Junior Quantity Surveyor or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor
  • Ideally 2+ years’ construction experience
  • HNC, HND or degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline preferred
  • Good understanding of construction costs and subcontractor procurement
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good communication and organisational ability
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and standard commercial software
  • Able to work independently while still developing under senior guidance
  • Ambitious and keen to progress within a commercial construction career

Package:

  • £32,000 – £38,000 depending on experience
