We are recruiting for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join a growing specialist subcontractor based in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate, or someone early in their commercial career, who wants to gain hands-on experience within a supportive specialist contracting environment. Full training will be provided.

The role will involve supporting the commercial and project teams with the financial management of live jobs, pricing work, preparing cost information and assisting with elements of project management. The role will include:

  • Assisting with the commercial management of projects from start to finish
  • Helping to price jobs, prepare quotations and review project costs
  • Supporting with valuations, variations and applications for payment
  • Working with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams
  • Monitoring job profitability, costs and commercial performance
  • Assisting with basic project coordination and programme updates
  • Learning how specialist subcontract packages are delivered commercially and operationally

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related subject
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn
  • Confidence with numbers and basic commercial information
  • A proactive attitude and interest in developing within a specialist subcontractor environment
  • Some placement, site or construction experience would be useful, but is not essential

This is a strong opportunity for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor who wants real responsibility, structured training and the chance to develop both commercial and project management skills.
