We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Solar PV Installer with roofing experience to join a growing and well-established renewable energy contractor. This is an excellent opportunity to work within the fast-growing solar sector, offering consistent work and competitive day rates.
You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across residential and commercial properties. The role requires confidence working at height, strong roofing knowledge, and a commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
The Role
As a Solar PV Installer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of solar installations, working closely with electricians and other site personnel to ensure projects are completed to specification and within agreed timescales. Key responsibilities include:
- Installation of solar PV systems, including panel mounting and associated equipment
- Measuring, cutting, and assembling mounting systems for rooftop and ground-mounted installations
- Ensuring solar panels are correctly positioned, secured, and prepared for electrical connection
- Carrying out work safely at height, following all health & safety procedures and using PPE
- Coordinating with electricians and other contractors to complete installations efficiently
- Repairing or replacing broken roofing tiles and setting ridges as required
- Applying general roofing knowledge to maintain roof integrity during and after installation
- Maintaining tools, materials, and equipment in good working condition
- Communicating job progress clearly with the wider team and adhering to project timelines
- Providing excellent customer service, answering client questions and explaining system operation once installed
The Applicant
To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in solar installations or a strong background in roofing, construction, or related trades. Essential requirements:
- Experience in solar panel installation, roofing, or a related trade (preferred)
- Confident working at heights and on rooftops
- General roofing knowledge, including tile replacement and ridge setting
- Physically fit with the ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently when required
- Valid UK driving licence with a clean driving record
