About the Role
We are recruiting a Domestic Gas Remedial Engineer to deliver planned and reactive repairs across domestic heating and hot-water systems. This opportunity is suitable for candidates ranging from newly qualified engineers with the correct domestic ACS qualifications through to experienced remedial engineers. Newly qualified candidates can expect a salary from £38,000, while experienced applicants can earn up to £47,000. The anticipated salary for a strong, well-matched candidate is around £45,000.
The Domestic Gas Remedial Engineer will:
- Diagnose faults, complete follow-on repairs arising from gas safety inspections and ensure work meets current safety, quality and compliance standards.
- Work in occupied domestic properties, so professional communication and respect for residents are essential.
What You’ll Do
- Complete planned and reactive repairs to domestic heating and hot-water systems.
- Carry out inspections and remedial work on domestic gas appliances.
- Complete follow-on repairs identified during gas safety inspections.
- Undertake gas pipework repairs, upgrades, capping, purging and leak rectification.
- Diagnose boiler, heating and hot-water faults accurately.
- Carry out boiler and HIU breakdown repairs where suitably qualified.
- Complete gas servicing when required by operational demand.
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
- Explain work clearly to residents and minimise disruption within occupied properties.
- Record work accurately using a PDA, including job updates, logs and timesheets.
- Work safely and comply with all relevant gas, health and safety requirements.
- Maintain the company vehicle and report faults or servicing requirements promptly.
- Participate in toolbox talks and a call-out rota where required.
- Support apprentices where appropriate to your experience and competence.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed as a Domestic Gas Remedial Engineer, you must have:
- Current ACS qualifications, including CCN1, CPA1, CKR1, HTR1 and CENWAT.
- Current Gas Safe registration or the qualifications required to work under the employer's registration.
- An Unvented Hot Water qualification.
- A sound understanding of domestic gas safety and compliant working practices.
- The ability to diagnose faults and complete repairs safely.
- Good communication and customer-service skills.
- The ability to complete electronic job records using a PDA.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- The ability to work independently while contributing to the wider operational team.

- Boiler breakdown and fault-finding experience.
