Overview
Ty'r Ddraig is looking for a Junior Assistant Editor to join their team.
Contract: Full-time (initial 3 months, rising to 6 beyond probationary period with a view to extend further).
Start date - ASAP.
Based at the Ty'r Ddraig Production Office in Wrexham.
Welsh speaking would be an advantage but not essential.
The role will involve working across our full range of shows which currently includes series for S4C, BBC1 and Channel 4.
Responsibilities
- Media ingest: Copy media off camera cards and audio recorders, verify checksums, and ensure nothing is lost or corrupted in transfer.
- Backups: Create and maintain redundant backups of all incoming media following established procedures; confirm the integrity of every copy before cards are wiped.
- Ingest & transcode: Bring media into the relevant project, transcode and create proxies/offline media as required, and conform footage to the correct editorial specs.
- Sync mapping: Build sync maps and group clips for editors β matching picture to audio, organising multicam, and labelling clearly.
- Project organisation: Keep bins, folders, and naming conventions tidy and consistent so editors can find anything quickly.
- Storage & backups: Help manage shared storage and archive workflows, monitor capacity, and flag issues before they become problems.
- Editorial support: Assist editors throughout the edit β exports, dailies, basic versioning, and general troubleshooting so the cut keeps moving.
Essential skills & qualities
- Technical knowledge of post-production workflows
- Hands-on experience with Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro
- Confident supporting editors across all stages of the edit
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Calm, proactive, and able to work to tight deadlines
- Strong communication and team-working skills
Desirable
- Basic PC / Mac troubleshooting
- Familiarity with shared storage and backup/archive workflows
- Awareness of broadcast delivery specs and codecs
