About The Role

To complement our teams and to continually drive quality through the manufacturing process we are inviting applications for the position of Production Team Leader, to be based at our Pump Sales and Manufacturing site in Chandlers Ford. As Production Team Leader you’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily production activities ensuring delivery and productivity targets are met. You will manage the production teams to create products in line with the company’s environmental, health and safety standards while complying with all external regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily morning meetings to keep the team informed of production activities.
  • Coordinate and control all the steps and workflow in the production process plan to make sure products are delivered on time and within the budget targets set.
  • Create and execute daily, weekly and monthly production schedules.
  • Contribute to the implementation of the business unit vision, strategy, policies & processes to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines by means of continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain and develop safe working conditions and practices for the production environment.
  • Monitor production performance to resolve issues.
  • Monitor, communicate, and improve productivity rates, standards and quality control activities.
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of Production personnel against required skill sets and targets.
  • Train and coach Production personnel to create an enthusiastic and flexible work force.
  • Implement best practice and continuous improvement activities in a Production environment, utilising the relevant Lean and 6S tools and working practices.
  • Communicate and liaise with other departmental team leaders.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems to ensure they are not repeated.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree and/or equivalent NVQ Level 5 qualifications in a subject appropriate to the role is preferred.
  • Proven background in supervising a production department, maximising quality, productivity and profitability and support driving sales and growth.
  • Six Sigma qualification (Green Belt is preferred).
  • Computer literate. Be proficient in MS Office suite and able to analyse data on Microsoft Packages such as Project / excel / word / PowerPoint.
  • Experience of successfully managing a team, being able to demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to develop, coach, motivate and engage a team.
  • A leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen and offer sound feedback.
  • Ability to be able to lead and mentor others to ensure all are working to the same high standard, with a proven track record of raising the standards within a team and delivering results.
  • Able to plan, effectively allocate resources and monitor outputs, standard and outcomes to achieve goals and continuously improve productivity, efficiency and quality.
  • Ability to identify problems, consider relevant information and apply good judgement to make timely decisions.
  • Ability to act proactively / be forward thinking whilst maintaining a methodical, attention to detail approach.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to choose a communication strategy that is appropriate for the audience, situation and context to achieve objectives and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Strong understanding of technical and business process requirements including Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Kaizen and lean manufacturing.
  • Good understanding and demonstratable experience of using ERP systems and software.
  • Good understanding and experience of COSHH, IOSH, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and relevant regulations and legislation.
  • Compliant accurate record keeping is important to this role.
  • It’s vital that you’re comfortable working in a fast‑paced, sometimes high‑pressured environment as you will be prioritising requirements and balancing multiple workstreams to get things done, whilst also working with several different internal/external clients.
