Responsibilities

  • Fully comply with digital Tachograph operation and drivers' hours legislation.
  • Maintain full compliance with the Working Time Directive for mobile workers, observing statutory break periods and setting the tachograph accordingly.
  • Ensure all loading and unloading activities are carried out safely and efficiently, securing loads to avoid overloading axles or load movement; includes manual handling of hoses.
  • Be aware of the dates for the scheduled 6‑weekly safety inspection timetable and liaise with the Manager and garage to help organise booking of the vehicle for inspections.
  • Carry out daily maintenance and defect checks of the vehicle per the Daily Vehicle Defect Check Report, reporting defects promptly to the Manager and monitoring for signs of developing defects.
  • Carry out work in compliance with Department of Transport Regulations and The Highway Code, ensuring safety of self, workforce and public.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Full LGV driving licence (no more than 6 points).
  • HIAB/ALMI certificate required.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar industry.
  • Over 21 years of age.
  • Good level of fitness to safely load and unload vehicles.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with hire desk, colleagues, and customers.
  • Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic, able to adapt to ever‑changing priorities and ensure health and safety standards are adhered to.
  • Existing knowledge of driver‑hour regulations and WTD for mobile workers.
