Your work days are brighter here. We’re obsessed with making hard work pay off, for our people, our customers, and the world around us. As a Fortune 500 company and a leading AI platform for managing people, money, and agents, we’re shaping the future of work so teams can reach their potential and focus on what matters most. Our culture is rooted in integrity, empathy, and shared enthusiasm. We look for curious minds and courageous collaborators who bring sun-drenched optimism and drive.

About the Team

The Workday Extend Consulting team, part of Workday’s EMEA Services organization, is dedicated to implementing custom business applications, agents, and orchestrations on top of the Workday platform. We help customers solve unique business challenges by extending core HCM and Financials and, increasingly, by building intelligent, agentic experiences that feel native to Workday. We value career growth, learning, and collaboration. We work in an agile way, staying close to our customers for fast feedback and focusing on the business value our solutions deliver.

About the Role

As a Senior Workday Extend Consultant, you will lead the design and delivery of solutions using Workday Extend and Developer Agent for EMEA customers. You will work directly with business and IT stakeholders to:

  • Discover and shape requirements.
  • Design architectures that combine Extend apps, agents, orchestrations, and integrations.
  • Build and iterate on solutions, using Developer Agent and IDE plug-ins to accelerate development.

You will act as a trusted technical advisor on how customers should adopt Extend, Developer Agent, and related AI capabilities safely and effectively. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role with strong technical depth and plenty of room for thought leadership across EMEA.

What you’ll do

  • Run discovery and design workshops to understand business processes and identify where Workday Extend apps with embedded AI experiences can add value.
  • Use generative coding tools such as Cursor and Workday’s Developer Agent to generate, refine, and refactor application artifacts from natural language descriptions.
  • Define and implement integrations and data flows using modern API patterns (REST, Graph APIs, and, where needed, SOAP via orchestrations).
  • Lead technical workstreams, review designs from other consultants/partners, and promote best practices and reusable patterns.
  • Mentor colleagues in Extend and AI-assisted development and feed implementation learnings back to product and engineering teams.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • You must be a UK citizen and able to go through SC (Security Check) level UK government security clearance (National Security Vetting).
  • Several years of experience in enterprise software implementation, technical consulting, requirements gathering and solution architecture, ideally on Workday or similar HCM/Financials platforms.
  • Hands-on experience designing and building solutions on Workday Extend, or strong equivalent experience with an enterprise extension / PaaS platform.
  • Strong domain understanding in at least one area such as Human Resources, Payroll, Financials, or related back-office processes.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong architectural design skills across data flows, integration patterns, and security models.
  • Experience with agentic / “vibe coding” tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Cline, or other VS Code–compatible AI development environments.
  • Comfortable working with open, text-based configuration and documentation formats (e.g., Markdown) to define skills, tools, or agent behaviours in a structured way.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical and AI/agentic concepts to non-technical audiences while going deep with developers and architects.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams, prioritise trade-offs, and drive work through to production with high quality.
  • Hands-on experience integrating with MCP - style patterns for connecting agents to external systems.
  • Prior involvement in early adopter programs for new AI or platform capabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of web service and integration technologies (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML) and modern auth standards (such as OAuth, JWT, SAML).
  • Fluency in English is mandatory. Additional European languages are an advantage.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role).

At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email accommodations@workday.com.

At Workday, we value our candidates’ privacy and data security. Workday will never ask candidates to apply to jobs through websites that are not Workday Careers. Please be aware of sites that may ask for you to input your data in connection with a job posting that appears to be from Workday but is not. In addition, Workday will never ask candidates to pay a recruiting fee, or pay for consulting or coaching services, in order to apply for a job at Workday.

How to prepare for a job interview at Workday

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Workday uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
