About the Role

Workday is seeking a Developer Advocate to serve as the face of Workday to developers across the UKI and European markets. This role is for someone who brings authentic energy and enthusiasm to community building — someone who genuinely delights in connecting with people, sparking curiosity, and helping developers succeed. You will design hands‑on learning experiences, present at conferences, create compelling technical demonstrations, and serve as the voice of developers back to our product teams. Reporting to the Head of Developer Relations, you will have regional ownership to shape developer engagement strategy across Europe while contributing to global Developer Relations initiatives.

Why This Role Matters:

As Workday opens its platform to the world, we are doubling our developer community this year with ambitious growth plans beyond. This role is critical because it transforms how developers perceive and engage with Workday — from an enterprise platform to a vibrant, accessible ecosystem where developers of all backgrounds can build their careers. You won’t just evangelize our platform; you will shape product direction by channeling developer feedback to engineering teams, identify and nurture the next generation of community leaders, and remove friction points that block developer success. Your authentic relationships and regional expertise will directly accelerate our path from a customer‑focused platform to a truly open developer community.

What Makes This Role Unique:

This is a high‑impact opportunity to join at an inflection point in Workday's platform evolution. You’ll have regional ownership with significant autonomy, work directly with product and platform leadership, and help shape the future of our developer ecosystem. We value authentic connections over polished marketing — your genuine passion for developers will be your superpower.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Building & Developer Engagement: Design and facilitate hands‑on learning experiences including hackathons, workshops, and developer meetups across UKI and Europe, creating memorable moments that inspire developers to build on Workday. Build authentic relationships with developers at all skill levels — from students exploring Workday to enterprise architects building mission‑critical applications — and identify emerging community leaders and MVPs. Create and nurture local developer communities through both in‑person and virtual engagement, establishing Workday's presence at regional conferences and developer events.
  • Technical Content & Thought Leadership: Present at conferences, meetups, and customer events with compelling technical demonstrations and thought leadership that showcase platform capabilities. Produce high‑quality technical content including blog posts, video demos, sample applications, code samples, quick‑start guides, and reference architectures that accelerate developer success. Translate complex technical concepts into accessible, actionable guidance for diverse audiences, making Workday development approachable for developers at every level.
  • Developer Experience & Product Advocacy: Serve as the primary liaison between Workday Build product teams (Extend, Orchestrate, Data Cloud, Prism Analytics, AI Agents) and the developer community, ensuring developer voices influence product roadmaps. Gather, synthesize, and champion developer feedback to product teams, identifying friction points in the developer journey and collaborating cross‑functionally to remove barriers. Monitor developer sentiment, engagement metrics, and community health across European markets, using data to measure success and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Strategic Execution: Partner with Product, Product Marketing, Events Marketing, and the Global Partner Organization to execute regional developer growth strategies that align with business objectives. Contribute to global Developer Relations initiatives including the Developer MVP program, Outstanding Contributors Awards, and Developer Days. Support sales enablement by equipping field teams with technical knowledge and developer success stories that demonstrate platform value.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience building and scaling applications within enterprise ecosystems, or 2+ years of developer advocacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Business, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of public speaking and technical presentations at conferences, meetups, or community events.
  • Strong technical communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain complex concepts clearly through writing, speaking, or content creation.
  • Experience organizing or facilitating hackathons, workshops, or developer events.
  • Development experience with the Workday platform (Extend, Orchestrate, Integrations, Prism Analytics, or related technologies).
  • Based in the UKI region with authorization to work in the UK or Ireland and comfortable with 25% travel within UKI, Europe, and occasionally to global events.
  • Genuine energy, enthusiasm, and authenticity in engaging with developer communities — you delight in connecting with people and inspiring them to build.
  • Natural ability to build rapport across cultures and developer personas, from students to enterprise architects.
  • Active presence in developer communities through open source contributions, technical blogging, conference speaking, or community leadership.
  • Understanding of modern developer tools, platforms, and development practices.
  • Background in partner ecosystems, ISV relationships, or developer program management.
