As a community based Senior Non-Medical Prescriber or Senior Pharmacist Prescriber in our Leicestershire and Rutland services, you'll make a real difference to the lives of those experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage. Our integrated community drug and alcohol service offers support to individuals across Leicestershire and Rutland. You will work within a busy prescribing service alongside other Clinical Team colleagues. You will work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team with Team Leaders, Advanced Recovery Practitioners, Recovery Workers and Peer Mentors to improve the wellbeing of a wide range of individuals. Role Responsibility

  • Developing strength-based, safe prescribing plans for substance use treatment;
  • Being accountable for own prescribing practice and seeking advice when outside of competency/knowledge;
  • Delivery of high-quality interventions within your designated clinical team;
  • Supervision and Management of a designated team including NMPs;
  • Ensuring medicine optimisation and cost effectiveness of prescribing practice within your own practice and your team;
  • Clinical oversight regarding assessment and management of medically assisted community alcohol detoxes;
  • Contributing to accurate, person-centred and individualised risk assessments and risk management plans that safeguard service users, staff and others;
  • Ensuring that prescribing plans are reviewed with the service user and Recovery Worker in line with organisational policy including proactively supporting engagement and swift action in response to changes;
  • Ensuring quality and expected clinical standards through delivery supervision, audit and CPD;
  • Delivery of specific clinical procedures and tasks within my level of training and competency;
  • Chairing multi-disciplinary team meetings/complex case reviews, leading on specific areas of service governance;
  • Training and continuous professional development of colleagues within my service;
  • The delivery of clinical key performance indicators;
  • Taking responsibility for your own continuous professional development and for your team, including clinical supervision.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Essential: Registered Nurse/Pharmacist qualification; NMP qualification level 6 or 7 (if pharmacist); Demonstrable understanding of the substance use sector and health issues relating to substance use (including mental health);
  • Desirable: Experience of clinical leadership, clinical supervision and student mentorship; 3 years experience prescribing within substance use; Advanced knowledge of clinical treatment in substance use.
