Performance Analyst Internship 2026/2027

Contract Type: Work Placement

Ideal for Undergraduate Students / Placement Year Students / Masters Students / Those looking to gain experience in professional football.

Start Date: July 2026

End Date: May 2027

Hours: Part-time (25-28 Hours Per Week)

Salary: Unpaid Internship

Colchester United has student internships available across the First Team for the 2026/2027 season. This specific role will be to assist the analysis process across the First Team. Those invited to interview will be asked to complete a small task to demonstrate their analysis skills and football understanding.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Demonstrate good knowledge and tactical understanding of the game
  • Be proficient using Mac iOS & Windows products (Keynote, PowerPoint, Excel, etc)
  • Be working towards completing an undergraduate/postgraduate degree in sports science or a relevant field OR have experience working as a performance analyst
  • Be adaptable to the workflow of professional football
  • Cope in high demand situations
  • Be able to commit to the entire 2026/2027 season

Desirable candidate qualities:

  • Have knowledge and expertise of industry software, specifically in relation to SBG, HUDL, and Hudl Sportscode.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with and support the first team staff
  • Provide support to the pre and post-match analysis process
  • Film training sessions with a drone and via IP cameras to manage the upkeep of our recording processes on HUDL
  • Coding at the analyst and coaches request key events, key players, tactical events, clipping for players, etc
  • Assist with delivering analysis sessions group and individual
  • Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are carried out efficiently and responsibly
  • Completing ad-hoc requests
  • Be available to work flexible hours
