The MyTime to Thrive service supports children and young people across Lancashire and South Cumbria aged 5-18 years to develop healthy minds, confidence and resilience, enabling them to fulfil their potential. As part of the THRIVE 'Getting Help' model, Barnardo's provides therapeutic one-to-one sessions, group work and counselling support within the community.

We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to:

The Role:

  • Working days: Monday to Friday (to be agreed)
  • Working hours: 30 hours per week
  • Office base: Blackpool
  • Working across various school and community venues
  • The ability to travel across the Blackpool Fylde Wyre locality is essential

You will deliver brief interventions via one-to-one wellbeing sessions and therapeutic group work, focusing on emotional literacy and emotional regulation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing a blended approach of digital and face-to-face sessions
  • Maintaining active engagement on all safeguarding matters
  • Ensuring accurate record-keeping for reporting purposes

Essential requirements for successful candidates:

  • Hold a diploma-level qualification in counselling, child and adolescent psychotherapy, art, play, drama or music therapy, which includes a practicum of at least 100 hours of supervised practice.
  • Possess substantial experience of delivering counselling to children and young people
  • Demonstrate an awareness of emotional challenges and their impact on the lives of children and young people.
  • Possess knowledge of child and adolescent development and the role of the family in supporting children and young people's emotional wellbeing.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of children's safeguarding.
  • Exhibit adaptability and the capability to deliver support via multiple methods, including face-to-face, telephone and video call.
  • Possess case management experience and demonstrate a clear understanding of the requirement for professional and accurate case documentation.
  • Access to a vehicle would be advantageous due to the regular travel required for this role.

This contract is fixed-term until the end of March 2027, with potential for extension subject to funding.

Annual Leave entitlement for full-time colleagues is 26 days per annum, increasing to 27 days per annum after 3 years Barnardo's service, 29 days per annum after 5 years Barnardo's service and 30 days per annum after 7 years Barnardo's service. Those working less than full time are entitled to the same level of holiday pro rata.
