The Role
The role involves delivering poultry feed to farms, with typically 2–4 deliveries per day, depending on the distance between farms.
Some delivery locations can be very tight, and the roads leading to farms can be challenging, so drivers need to be confident handling a Class 1 vehicle in rural and restricted-access locations.
Drivers will work 12-hour shifts:
-
Days: 06:00–18:00
-
Nights: 18:00–06:00
Overtime is paid after 42 or 48 hours, depending on the shift pattern.
Full Training Provided
You don't need previous experience in poultry feed deliveries, as up to one month of training is provided.
Training will include:
-
Week 1: Working in the cab alongside an experienced driver, learning routes and delivery points. Approximately 30% of the week will involve driving, with the remaining time spent as a passenger.
-
Weeks 2–4: Working in convoy, normally alongside two other vehicles and always with at least one other driver.
-
Detailed training on the correct delivery of poultry feed.
-
Specific procedures for delivering feed into metal silos.
-
Strict procedures to prevent cross-contamination, which is extremely important within the business.
It is very unusual for a single vehicle to attend a delivery. Where only one vehicle is required, the company generally sends one of its most experienced drivers.
What We're Looking For
-
Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence
-
Reliable and safety-conscious drivers
-
Good understanding of vehicle positioning and manoeuvring
-
Comfortable driving on narrow and challenging rural roads
-
Willingness to follow detailed delivery procedures
-
Good attitude towards training and working as part of a team
Immediate starts are available, subject to interview. xiskglj
