Workchain Recruitment is currently recruiting for experienced HGV Class 2 (Category C) Refuse Drivers on behalf of a well-established local authority based in Ilkeston. The Role
As an HGV Class 2 Refuse Driver, you will play a key role in supporting the local refuse collection service, ensuring waste is collected safely and efficiently across the borough. Your responsibilities will include:
- Driving a Class 2 refuse collection vehicle on planned collection routes.
- Working alongside a team of loaders to complete daily refuse rounds.
- Carrying out daily vehicle safety checks before each shift.
- Operating the vehicle safely while maintaining awareness of colleagues working around the vehicle.
- Following all DVSA regulations, road traffic laws and health & safety procedures.
- Completing any required paperwork accurately.
Please note: This is a driving-only role. You will be supported by a dedicated team of loaders, so no manual loading or handball is required.
Shift Pattern
- Monday to Friday
- 6:30am starts
- Finish times vary depending on the route
- Approximately 37-45 hours per week
- Immediate starts available
Pay
- £17.00 per hour

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Licence.
- A valid Driver CPC Qualification Card.
- A valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Ideally a minimum of 6 months' Class 2 driving experience.
- No more than 6 penalty points (no major endorsements).
- Safety boots and a high-visibility vest.
- A reliable, professional and safety-conscious approach to work.
