About the role

Reporting to the Head of Finance Smart Solutions, the Management Accountant you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function at our Antrim office and will maintain and develop group reporting, whilst ensuring the business is compliant with internal guidelines and procedures and external regulatory requirements. In addition, this role will work closely with the Director of Credit and Compliance, to create operational and commercial efficiencies in the credit control department.

Key Responsibilities

Group Reporting, Financial Control and Compliance

  • Weekly Sales Reporting and Forecasting to SLT
  • Preparation of Management Accounts for 2 companies and complete divisional P&L / BS prep in strict 6 working day timeframe
  • Ensure the accuracy, quality and timeliness of monthly reporting to Senior Management.
  • Management of the monthly balance sheet review processes; constant evolution of the control processes in place.
  • Identification of balance sheet risks and subsequent mitigation.
  • Management and control of banking.
  • Compliance with all external audit, internal audit, HMRC and corporate governance requirements.
  • Responsibility for all returns to be made on time such as VAT (UK & ROI), Intrastat (UK & ROI), ONS and PAYE
  • Support the Head of Finance / Sales Director in the budgeting and forecasting process
  • Preparation and payment of salaries on monthly basis including Year End responsibilities and Annual P11d returns

Performance Management & Financial Analysis

  • Evolution of management accounts, KPIs and stakeholder reports.
  • Overhead management and completion of process reviews to achieve required efficiencies.
  • Provide support and guidance to the credit control departments, ensuring the company credit policy is adhered to.
  • Improving the credit policy and processes periodically with the Director of Credit and Compliance to ensure the right balance between risk and commercial decision making.

Managerial

  • Day to day management of direct reports
  • Ensure robust performance management is embedded across Finance
  • Ensure a culture of compliance is embedded within the Finance function while also helping to create an enjoyable working environment for the teams.

Requirements

About you

  • Visible and credible leadership skills
  • High calibre, qualified accountant ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Strong attention to detail and focused on driving KPI performance
  • Knowledge of Sage or SAP is preferable
  • Hard working with strong personal integrity
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
