Our client, based in York, is looking for a skilled and motivated Registered Building Inspector (Class 2d and above) to join their team for a minimum of 6 months, with the option of temp to perm. This is an excellent opportunity to support a busy local authority service delivering a wide range of building control functions across residential and commercial developments. The position blends office, site, and home-based work within a dynamic, supportive team focused on quality.
You will play a key role in ensuring building work complies with current regulations and safety standards while supporting the delivery of a high-quality regulatory service to developers, contractors, and residents. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact on building safety and quality within the York community.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out site inspections across a variety of developments to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations.
- Undertake plan checking and provide technical guidance on complex applications.
- Manage a caseload of building control projects from application through to completion.
- Provide professional advice to developers, architects, and members of the public.
- Support the wider Building Control team with technical expertise and regulatory guidance.
- Ensure all work aligns with current legislation and Building Safety Regulator requirements.
- Registered Building Inspector (RBI), Class 2D minimum.
- You will have a degree (or equivalent qualification and experience) in a construction related discipline.
- Proven experience working within Building Control, ideally within a local authority environment.
- Strong knowledge of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Experience carrying out both plan checks and site inspections.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
This is a full time 37 hours a week, interim position, weekly pay and the hourly rate is commensurate with current market rates and an individual’s experience.
