Our client is a well-established, family-run early years nursery in Bromley with a strong community feel and a maximum capacity of 25 children. They are seeking an experienced and committed Nursery Manager / Head Teacher to lead the setting and maintain high standards of care and education.

This is a hands-on leadership role, with time spent working directly in the rooms, delivering phonics sessions, and role modelling best practice to the staff team.

Role Overview

The Nursery Manager / Head Teacher will be responsible for the overall management, educational leadership, and daily operations of the nursery. The role combines strategic leadership with practical classroom involvement, making it ideal for a manager who enjoys leading from the front.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall management of the nursery in line with EYFS, safeguarding, and Ofsted requirements
  • Lead on teaching and learning, including delivery of phonics sessions
  • Maintain high-quality practice through in-room role modelling and staff mentoring
  • Manage staff performance, supervision, appraisals, and development
  • Oversee curriculum planning, observations, assessments, and progress tracking
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements

Candidate Requirements

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (Level 6, EYTS, or QTS desirable)
  • Previous experience as a Nursery Manager, Deputy Manager, or Head Teacher
  • Strong knowledge of EYFS and Ofsted frameworks
  • Confidence in delivering phonics and supporting early literacy
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small staff team
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
