The Role

This is a full time permanent position based on site at our clients production plant working either a fixed morning shift or fixed afternoon shift. You will be responsible for a team of 7 to 10 operatives / senior operatives and report to the departmental manager. You will provide effective support in running the production lines in accordance with the product specifications, company standards and procedures regarding hygiene, safety, quality, quantity and cost.

You will provide leadership direction and support to your team as well as managing their efficiency, effectiveness and quality of products they produce.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure correct staffing levels for your line
  • Missing team members (without authorisation) to be flagged immediately to your Room Leader or Shift Manager.
  • Ensure all Operatives allocated to your line have the correct PPE and are wearing it as set out by Health & Safety/Technical Departments.
  • Raise any additional staff immediately to your Room Leader/Shift Manager.
  • Maintain the highest GMP standards throughout your line
  • Record all downtime on the minute-by-minute downtime sheets and on your SIC Board.
  • Run a Yield Report and Giveaway Report at the end of each Product cycle,
  • Escalate any Yield or Giveaway results that fall outside of targets to Room Leader or Shift Managers and support them in understanding variances.
  • Conduct end of shift Line Reviews ensuring minimum cleanliness standards met, spare packaging returned to Stores and raw material booked back in to stock.
  • Ensuring your your Line is never unattended unless agreement from Room Leader or Shift Manager has been given.
  • Identify as early as possible the potential for shortages and escalate immediately to Room Leader or Shift Manager.
  • Escalate any and all breakdowns to the Engineering Department and your Room Leader/Shift Manager; report this on your SIC board on an hourly basis.
  • Identify and manage appropriate team members to replenish stock if running low during the shift
  • Ensure the correct \’Product Specification\’ for the current product running is displayed at all times.
  • SIC Boards to be filled out every hour.
  • Minute by minute downtime sheets to be completed.
  • Highlight training needs or poor performance from team members to your Room Leader or Shift Manager immediately.
  • Any other reasonable request as given by the Room Leader or Shift Manager.
  • Requirements

    The successful applicant will have the following experience, skills and qualities:

  • Previous supervisory experience in a production / manufacturing environment
  • Experience in food production preferred
  • Solid leadership skills
  • Responsible and well organised
  • Solid problem solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in a team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A willingness to assist in any required duties
