Port Talbot / Carmarthen

38000 negotiable on experience

The Company

This well-established organisation installs and services perimeter security and industrial doors throughout the UK. They are currently in a period of growth and now require an Installation and Maintenance Engineer to work on various clients sites. Although previous door experience would be advantageous it is not essential as cross training can be provided.

The Role

This is a full time permanent position installing, fault finding and repairing Industrial garage doors for the companies ever growing client base. You could be based out of either Port Talbot or Carmarthen offices and will travel to customers sites on a daily basis. Occasional overnight trips will be required for clients further than 11/2 hours from work. You will work a 40 hour week with overtime often on offer and call out on a roster basis. There are no shifts or standard weekend requirements. The work involves both electrical and mechanical duties but with a definite electrical bias.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Service and Repair: Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of the companies full product
    range, covering all types of automation
  • Fault Diagnosis and Customer Support: Attend sites to diagnose faults, estimate
    repair requirements, and conduct service calls, advising customers on potential
    equipment issues
  • Maintenance and Site Surveys: Carry out routine maintenance independently and
    within a team, attend site surveys for both repairs and new installations
  • Risk Assessments: Conduct all required risk assessments to ensure compliance with
    current industry legislation
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all installation and maintenance tasks meet the benchmark
    standards, especially in HVM and perimeter security
  • Inventory and Reporting: Maintain accurate personal van stock levels and report
    timesheets with job details and travel information
  • Documentation: Complete reports, job sheets, and basic administrative tasks on
    mobile devices
  • Lead Generation: Identify and generate leads for Planned Preventative Maintenance
    (PPM) and new product opportunities
  • Project Management and Relationship Building: Work towards managing small
    projects as required and build lasting customer relationships
  • Skill Development: Progress toward a senior engineer or management role by
    expanding product knowledge and exposure, and completing various training courses,
    including college courses, online learning, and manufacturer-specific courses
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to work across the UK
  • Other Responsibilities: Perform welding tasks as needed across departments

Requirements

Although experience in doors or perimeter security would be an advantage applications are welcome from electrically biased maintenance engineers from manufacturing or other work sectors. Cross training to industrial doors can be provided.

The following experience, skills and qualities are required:

  • Field service or factory maintenance experience within a relevant industry
  • Mechanical and electrical engineering expertise with an electrical bias
  • Diagnostic and repair skills
  • Welding skills
  • Ability to pass security clearance
  • Holding a CSCS/CCSNG/IPAF card is advantageous but not essential
  • DHF/Gate safe trained or willing to obtain
  • Valid driver\’s license essential
  • Willingness to work away from home and outside normal hours when required
  • Physically fit and active to meet the needs of the role
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of independent work
  • Team player with strong listening skills and customer focus
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills.
