A privately owned Environmental Services business who supports a range of industries with a range of services is currently seeking an experienced HGV Fitter / Mechanic Technician to join their workshop team near Bridgend. This role is predominantly HGV-focused, working on a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles and associated plant, with some involvement with a variety of vans. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV mechanic who takes pride in high standards of maintenance, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair HGVs
- Carry out Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on HGV fleet vehicles
- Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults
- Prepare vehicles for MOT and inspections, including booking and compliance
- Accurately record workshop time, defects, and repairs
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant workshop environment (including COSHH)
- Liaise with the workshop manager regarding required parts and workshop stock
- Provide technical support to operational teams regarding HGV defects or breakdowns
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as an HGV Fitter / Mechanic
- Strong HGV diagnostics and fault-finding skills
- Solid knowledge of HGV systems including engines, braking systems, suspension, hydraulics, and electrics
- Confident using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Full UK Driving Licence (required)
- HGV licence desirable but not essential
