Work Lyf Group are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Multiskilled Maintenance Technician to join a busy heavy-industrial site in Hixon. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong background in maintaining production machinery who is looking to further develop their skills.
The Role
As a Multiskilled Maintenance Operative, you will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across a wide range of plant machinery and site equipment. You will support the Shift Foreman and Engineering Manager to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable site operations. There is genuine potential for career progression, including future team leader opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out PPM and breakdown repairs
- Electrical and mechanical fault finding & diagnostics
- Maintain a range of plant equipment, including:
- Hydraulics & pneumatics
- Conveyors, crushers, furnaces, mills & mobile plant
- Fault finding on motors, inverters, and Siemens PLC-based control systems
- Electrical work on single-phase, three-phase and 24VDC systems
- Replace bearings, housings, belts, and motors
- Distribution board inspections & panel improvements
- Maintenance on low-voltage infrastructure systems
- Basic welding and fabrication when required
- Contribute to site improvement projects
- Opportunity to develop further in electrical control, PLC automation, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Recognised mechanical, electrical or engineering qualification
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering / Mechatronics (or equivalent)
- 17th or 18th Edition
- Minimum 5 years' experience maintaining plant or production equipment
- Strong fault-finding skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
- Experience in heavy industry such as:
- Foundry
- Recycling
- Quarry/aggregates
- Process manufacturing
Siemens TIA experience beneficial but not essential.
