Would you like to join the leading international intergovernmental organization? The Assistant Logistic Support will perform key functions related to distribution center management, inventory management, logistics operations, supply chain activities, and warehouse management. Under the guidance of the Head Enablement Branch, the incumbent will ensure efficient logistics processes, accurate inventory control, and effective supply chain support to meet organizational objectives.
Responsibilities
- Distribution Centre Management
- Works with Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) basic processes and operations.
- Maintains item and inventory management records.
- Helps minimize bottlenecks and delays and the resulting impact on operating costs.
- Uses real-time inventory software, with guidance, to move supplies where needed, when needed.
- Assists in resolving issues related to physical space management.
- Inventory Management
- Performs the receiving, ticketing, checking in and distributing of inventory items for a specific location.
- Produces basic inventory management reports for senior staff to reconcile the inventory balances.
- Tracks inventory information for a specific product group or location.
- Works with basic tasks of inventory management for a specific location.
- Follows processes to take stock, release inventory or return into processing; resolves discrepancies.
- Logistics Management
- Uses tools, with guidance, to forecast delivery times, determine costs and assess performance.
- Maintains records of all shipments and invoices using an established system.
- Assists in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity.
- Supply Chain Management
- Recognises software systems or components used to manage supply chain.
- Participates in supply chain analysis and uses it to spot trends and improvement opportunities.
- Discusses considerations for integrating partner and supplier transactions.
- Summarises supply chain considerations for different types of products.
- Works with a specific part of supply chain management process.
- Warehouse Management
- Assists in implementing mechanization approaches and techniques in a distribution centre.
- Collects and translates the business requirements for specifications of warehouse management systems.
- Performs basic warehousing activities such as receiving, putting away, picking, packing and shipping merchandise.
- Maintains warehouse equipment and facilities on a regular basis.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Secondary education or higher vocational training in a relevant discipline.
- A minimum of 1–3 years of professional experience in logistics, supply, warehouse operations, or inventory control.
- Demonstrated experience in inventory management, including stock control, order picking, packing, shipping, stock replenishment, and cycle counting.
- Experience managing shipping and receiving processes in an operational environment.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), including ERP-based systems (e.g. Oracle).
- Experience working in accordance with safety procedures and equipment handling protocols.
- Valid forklift licence, where operationally required.
Desirable Qualifications and Education
- Higher vocational training in logistics, supply chain management, or a related discipline, with post-qualification experience.
- Experience using logistics or inventory software, with a high level of data entry accuracy.
- Previous experience in a regulated, operational, or international organisation (e.g. defence, government, or large enterprise).
