Specialist Dietitian – Paediatric Diabetes

You will provide evidence-based dietetic advice to children and young people with diabetes, using carbohydrate counting education, insulin pump therapy and continuous glucose monitoring. As a Band 7, you will be a senior member of the paediatric dietitians team, supporting the paediatric diabetes team and the dietetics team lead in monitoring, developing and evolving the dietetic service across the Trust. You will also support junior team members, including colleagues, students and apprentices.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver high‑quality clinical service delivery to paediatric diabetes patients.
- Lead on clinical and service development projects, including service improvement, audit and research.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to promote evidence‑based practice.
- Provide training and supervision to junior dietitians, students and apprentices.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or an equivalent postgraduate qualification.
- Advanced knowledge of evidence‑based practice in paediatrics, including paediatric diabetes.
- Extensive clinical dietetic experience in paediatrics, particularly paediatric diabetes.
- Knowledge and application of counselling skills, motivational interviewing and behavioural change.
- Experience in managing insulin pumps.
Qualifications / Membership
- Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA).
- Registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
- Member of the Paediatric Dietetic Management and Education Group (DMEG).
