Senior Clinical Fellow in O&G, interest in Gynaecology-Oncology
This is a fixed term 12‑month Senior Clinical Fellow post with special interest in Diagnostic Oncology and Robotic.
The post holder will support the consultants in delivering comprehensive care to women who attend the department and work closely with Specialist Registrars and supporting Consultants to provide a full range of gynaecological services.
It is anticipated that the candidate will provide a high standard gynaecological care and will be supported in pursuing advanced training if desired.
Main duties of the job
- Gynaecology theatre sessions.
- Specialist gynaecological clinics: Diagnostic Oncology, outpatient hysteroscopy and attendance at weekly gynaecology oncology MDT.
- Senior Registrar level support to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.
- Attend ward & board rounds; may be responsible for unaccompanied ward rounds.
- Work under the supervision of the respective consultant, on‑call consultant and ultimately the Clinical Director.
- Regular contribution to departmental teachings, meetings and journal club.
- Perform additional duties in occasional emergency and unforeseen circumstances where appropriate.
- Consultant advice available at all times; seek advice on any difficulty.
- Deputise from time to time for absent colleagues, insofar as consistent with duties.

Person Specification
- Full GMC registration (Licence to Practice mandatory before employment commences)
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice
- Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competencies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competencies by the start date of the post

Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCOG part 1, 2
- Additional relevant clinical experience
- Advanced Training in Gynaecology surgery / ATSM / post CCT
- Clinical Skills
- Excellent all round experience of DGH work
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Competent to perform instrumental delivery and uncomplicated LSCS & ERPC
- Ability to work independently, but aware of own limitations
- Commitment to Clinical Governance / Improving quality of patient care
- Clinical governance: able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles and elements of clinical governance
- Audit: evidence of active participation in audit
- Teaching: evidence of interest and experience in medical student and junior doctor teaching
- Research: understanding of the principles of research and evidence of relevant academic and research achievements
