Overview Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Closing date: 07 June 2026. Full time, paid 109,725 – 145,478 per annum.
Main Duties- Provide the full range of OMFS services at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, Bedford Hospital, Lister Hospital, QEII Hospital & Milton Keynes Hospital.
- Conduct in‑patient surgeries and deliver national in‑patient services centralized to Luton Hospital.
- Deliver out‑patient clinics, day case surgery and local anaesthetic minor oral surgery across the network.
- Participate in a 1:8 on‑call commitment for general OMFS and a 1:4 rota for Head and Neck patients at Luton & Dunstable Hospital.
- Work with the well‑equipped Maxillofacial Laboratory and digital imaging facilities at Lister Hospital.
- Teach undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors; support junior staff training.
- Maintain supervision and mentoring relationships within the trust.
- Full and Specialist GMC Registration, CCT (or within 6 months of interview), and a GDC qualification.
- Evidence of extensive OMFS training, including Head and Neck Cancer surgery, micro‑vascular reconstruction and free‑flap raising.
- Experience in surgical dermatology, head and neck malignancy management and complex reconstructions.
- Distinguished record of attendance at national specialty meetings and completion of relevant fellowships.
- Residence within 10 miles of the hospital.
- Fit for the role with satisfactory Occupational Health clearance.
- Satisfactory DBS clearance.
- Evidence of expertise in OMFS practice with independent responsibility for service delivery.
- Ability to teach and mentor trainees at all levels.
- Active involvement in clinical governance, audit, and research.
- Completion of required Occupational Health and Enhanced DBS checks prior to appointment.
- Strong background in Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and micro‑vascular reconstructive techniques.
- Confirmation of COVID‑19 vaccination as part of routine occupational health.
