An exciting opportunity has arisen for a GP Receptionist & Administrative Assistant/ Clerk to join our friendly, well-established GP surgery (1974) in Toddington. The patient-facing role is a varied and rewarding workload, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and contributing to high-quality primary care services.
- Minimum 25 hours per week
- 5 days 08:00 am-1:00pm or 1:30pm-6:30 pm (ESSENTIAL)

The surgery will consider candidates seeking full-day working patterns. Previous SystmOne experience is desirable; however, a motivated and proactive candidate would be expected to become fully competent within 2 to 3 months, with appropriate training and support. Clinical coding and certain routine clerical tasks are supported by a remote specialist team. The primary focus of the role will therefore be on proactive and accurate administrative support, a patient-facing reception function, and active participation in the NHS Digital Access Transformation.
The emphasis is on a high level of proficiency in SystmOne support role, effective and logical management of administrative and clinical resources to support all clinicians in both administrative and patient-care functions. Risk Management Workflow Proficiency in - Safe Guarding, Cold Chain, H&S, IPC, IG.

Main duties of the job
- Answer telephone calls and greet patients face to face, effectively managing both telephone and in-person (footfall) queues in line with practice protocols.
- Book, amend, and cancel appointments using appropriate signposting, both at reception and within the back-office function.
- Process and manage prescription requests.
- Monitor surgery email inboxes, responding appropriately and actioning tasks in a timely manner.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming post.
- Provide cross-cover for colleagues during periods of leave and demonstrate the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Process patient registrations.
- Support remote clinical coding team handling correspondence, actioning, filing, and distribution.
- Action tasks within the reception task box promptly and accurately.
- Action safeguarding-related emails in strict accordance with practice safeguarding protocols.
- Process and manage requests for online services, including patient access and related enquiries.
- Deal confidently and independently with routine patient enquiries that do not require escalation to a manager or GP.
- Take payments from patients for non-NHS work, providing and accurately recording receipts in line with practice policy.
- Demonstrate a willingness and desire to be trained across all aspects of surgery administration.
- Undertake ad-hoc administrative duties as delegated by the line manager.

We are a semi-rural GP Medical Centre based in the village of Toddington, with a friendly, supportive, and hardworking team. On-site parking is available for staff.
