The post holder will coordinate all aspects of the operational and administrative planning of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme across Bedford Hospital NHS Trust (BHT) and Luton & Dunstable University Hospital in conjunction with the Programme Manager and Clinical Director, while being specifically responsible for the leadership and line management of the clinical team of Band 6 Specialist Screening practitioners. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme for BHT and L&D is delivered in line with national targets and within resources in conjunction with the Programme Manager and Clinical Director.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse
  • John Moores Liverpool University qualification
  • Documented evidence of CPD
  • ENB 998 or equivalent
  • Advanced Communication Course
  • Management or Leadership Qualification (or work towards)

Experience:

  • Experience of working as an SSP at Band 6 for a minimum of 2 years
  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team at a senior level
  • Knowledge and understanding of JAG and BCSP guidelines
  • Clinical expertise within speciality
  • Managing change
  • Experience of audit and research
  • Experience of preparing agendas and chairing

Knowledge:

  • Able to organise and prioritise workload
  • Time management and prioritisation skills
  • Able to work autonomously
  • Able to present and analyse complex data
  • Experience of producing and maintaining nursing rosters
