Do you have extensive Personal Injury motor claims experience? Do you want to be part of a growing and successful team and company? Hastings Direct is a fast growing, agile, digitally focussed general insurance provider to the UK market, with over 2 million customers and employing over 2,600 colleagues at sites in Bexhill, Leicester and Newmarket. We now have an opportunity within our Technical Claims Unit department for an experienced Technical Team Leader. This position has come about due to continued growth and will be based from our Head Office in Bexhill. The Technical Claims Unit deals with cases involving personal injury up to £100000. We also specialise in cases in Scotland and the EU.
We can deal with basic whiplash from ‘bent metal’ impacts involving 2 vehicles to significant fractures which can be life changing for the party involved. We deal with the investigation of claims involving vulnerable parties such as pedestrians and cyclists. Many of the cases involve some investigation of liability; we encourage our handlers to self-investigate liability in order to make a decision which is based upon their own investigation to further their knowledge by utilising case law and developing their thought process.
Responsibilities will also include:
- To process new and existing claims, Third Party personal injury, litigation and other technical claims matters, through negotiation with all interested parties in order to achieve settlement.
- To manage a team of minimum 6 direct reports.
- To act as a referral point across claims as a whole and provide coaching, mentoring and training to Technical & Claims Advisors within TCU, MOJ, TPPD and Credit Hire as requested.
- To assist in the development of Advisors within your team using available resources.
- To undertake PDRs in relation to their direct reports within their team.
- To identify and prevent fraudulent claims.
In order to be considered for this role you will have:
- Sound knowledge of the CPR, Pre Action Protocols and Litigation procedures.
- Telephone based work experience desirable, along with excellent problem solving skills coupled with a proactive approach to work.
- Basic IT and inputting skills, essential for data entry on to IS2000.
- Microsoft Excel, Word and Access desirable.
- Experience within the insurance industry (motor) in a claims handling role.
- Experience in handling personal injury claims (motor), with knowledge and experience in handling Multi Track claims.
- Substantial knowledge and experience of settling claims in excess of £25,000. Some experience in dealing with cases exceeding £100k would be beneficial.
