Wordsmith is building the AIâenabled command centre for inâhouse legal teams. Legal teams are under pressure to move faster while managing increasing complexity. Wordsmith combines AI, automation and structured workflows to help legal teams operate at the speed of the businesses they support. We work with ambitious legal teams that want to modernise how legal work gets done.
The Role
You will come from a background in law with inâhouse experience who brings credibility to every stage of the commercial cycle. Working alongside Account Executives and GTM broadly, you will support engagements with General Counsels, Heads of Legal, Legal Operations leaders, and lawyers across inâhouse departments â from first conversation through to deep teamâwide adoption. This isn't a traditional sales support role. It combines legal ops expertise, solutions architecture, change advisory, and client partnership. Your mission is to help inâhouse legal teams understand what AI can genuinely do for them â and then make that real.
What You'll Do
- PreâSale & GTM Support
- Partner with Account Executives across the full sales cycle, bringing inâhouse credibility and knowledge to discovery, demos, and commercial conversations with legal leadership and team members.
- Lead tailored product demonstrations for inâhouse legal teams â grounding every demo in the operational realities of inâhouse legal work.
- Conduct inâdepth discovery to understand how each legal department is structured, how work flows, where the inefficiencies live, and where Wordsmith can deliver the most meaningful impact, from contract management and regulatory compliance to matter management and external counsel oversight.
- Handsâon support during pilots or evaluation periods, helping to connect specific business needs with the developing technology.
- Translate the value of AI into language that resonates with inâhouse stakeholders: reduced cycle times, cost efficiency, risk reduction, and freeing lawyers to focus on business priorities.
- Confidently engage on ROI â helping legal and finance stakeholders evaluate and articulate the business case for AI adoption internally. Map how AI will impact specific functions and workflows.
- Act as the voice of the inâhouse customer within the GTM team, feeding commercial and product teams with insight on how corporate legal departments think, prioritise, and buy.
- Product Feedback
- Be a leading voice for inâhouse users inside the company â sharing insights from legal ops teams, commercial lawyers, and compliance functions that directly inform product development and roadmap priorities.
- Work closely with product and engineering teams as well as embedded legal engineers to translate realâworld inâhouse legal needs into clear, actionable product requirements.
- Market Engagement
- Help develop commercial messaging, content, and collateral that speaks directly to the priorities of GCs, Legal Ops leaders, and inâhouse teams.
- Contribute to the development of the legal engineering function as it scales, helping to define how the company engages with and serves inâhouse customers globally.
What we're looking for
- Qualified attorney with experience in an inâhouse legal team â whether at a corporation, financial institution, or highâgrowth company. Direct experience of the operational pressures, budget constraints, and strategic priorities facing corporate legal is central to this role.
- Strong understanding of how inâhouse legal departments are structured and how decisions get made â from the GC down to legal ops as well as interacting with other members of a company.
- Ability to engage credibly across a range of inâhouse stakeholders: legal leadership, legal ops professionals, procurement, and business clients.
- Executive presence and communication skills â comfortable presenting to a GC, facilitating a workshop with a legal ops team, or running a business case discussion with a CFO.
- A genuine ability to translate across disciplines: bridging legal, commercial, technical, and operational conversations without losing the thread.
- Curiosity about AI and a genuine conviction that it will reshape the inâhouse legal function.
Valued
- Experience in legal operations, legal tech procurement, or technology implementation within a legal department.
- Familiarity with the tools and systems common in inâhouse environments (contract lifecycle management, matter management, eâbilling, compliance platforms).
- Exposure to change management or largeâscale technology rollout programmes.
- Prior experience in a clientâfacing or commercial role, including secondment or business development.
- Comfort operating in fastâmoving, highâambiguity environments with a founder and builder mentality.
Why this role matters
You will be the person helping some of the world's most sophisticated legal departments navigate a genuinely transformative shift in how they operate. Your work will directly influence product direction, GTM strategy, and how the company builds its inâhouse market globally. You will have the autonomy to shape how this function evolves â this is a highâownership role at a company moving fast. You will work with a sharp, motivated team that operates with intensity and takes genuine ownership of outcomes.
What You Can Expect
The opportunity to be at the forefront engaging with how inâhouse lawyers and businesses are thinking about AI. The chance to collaborate with product, engineering and GTM in an environment where you can learn and contribute meaningfully.
How We Work
We're an inâoffice team. We work together because it helps us collaborate closely across product, engineering, and GTM teams. You should expect to be in the office as your default. This is a high ownership role. You'll be trusted to run projects, work directly with customers, and drive outcomes without heavy oversight.
