Wordsmith is building the AI platform for in-house legal teams. We take the work that used to mean expensive outside counsel and endless email threads and turn it into something fast, in-house, and genuinely good to use.
We just closed our Series B. That means more people, more product, and a lot more brand to build. Which is where you come in.
We're looking for a designer with serious visual taste to lead our work across web and brand. Not someone who waits for a brief and colours it in, but someone who can pick up an ambiguous problem and turn it into something sharp. For us it's both how it works and how it looks, down to the last pixel and the last full stop. We care about craft the way good lawyers care about commas.
This role sits at the center of how Wordsmith looks and sounds to the world: the website, the campaigns, the brand system, the events we show up at, and the small details that make people stop and pay attention.
Location and work mode
This role is based in Edinburgh or London. We like being in the same room for the messy, generative parts of the work, and we trust people to do focused work wherever they do it best.
What you'll do
- Design and build the website and landing pages, working hand in hand with engineers
- Own and evolve the Wordsmith brand system across every surface it lives on
- Partner with marketing and copy to turn ideas into campaigns that carry across channels
- Bring the brand into the real world, designing everything from our stand and collateral at events to merchandise and the details people remember on the way out
- Sweat the motion, the interaction, and the detail until each piece feels inevitable
What we're looking for
- A body of work that speaks louder than a CV. We care about what you've made, not where you studied
- Excellent visual, UI, motion, and interactive design skills
- An instinct for taste and judgment. Knowing what to cut, what to keep, and when something is not good enough yet
- A bias for action. You see what needs doing and start, without waiting for a brief or permission
- Comfort working in the open, shipping fast, and iterating with engineers in real time
- A genuine love for the craft, and an allergy to the generic
What we offer
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity
- The chance to define a brand at the moment it scales, not maintain one that's already set
- A small, opinionated team that cares deeply about the work and the people doing it
- Modern tooling and the autonomy to use it well
