Overview
We are hiring a Director of Medical Communications. This role is full time, remote-first, permanent, 37.5 hours per week.
The role leads Word Monster’s Med Comms business, evolving beyond medical writing and training to deliver strategic, intuitive communications that cut through complexity, build trust, and drive engagement. The position aims to grow a sustainable Med Comms unit within Word Monster, alongside the Training and Agency Support verticals.
Responsibilities
- In year one, translate the roadmap into clear Med Comms services, pilot offerings with anchor clients, and establish proof points.
- Shape the team structure, hire where needed, and establish repeatable processes for delivery and growth.
- Scale the vertical over time by broadening services, deepening client relationships, and embedding Med Comms as a sustainable business unit.
- Secure new business, drive organic growth within existing clients, deliver scientific strategies for clients, and coach the team to upskill in strategic thinking.
- Grow and lead the team and shape the culture to enable delivery of scientific excellence.
Success Outcomes
- For clients: Deliver intuitive, insight-led Med Comms programmes that improve HCP engagement, strengthen launch excellence, and build internal client capability.
- For colleagues: Create clarity, accountability, and growth opportunities within the Med Comms team; ensure the team feels part of a purposeful, high-performing vertical.
- For the business: Drive revenue growth and diversification; establish Med Comms as a pillar of Word Monster’s service mix and build a market reputation for scientific consultancy and strategic delivery.

Salary And Benefits
- Salary of £70,000 to £75,000 per annum plus individual target-related bonus
