Salary will be paid at National Apprentice wage, £8 per hour with a yearly salary of £15,600 for the first 12 months followed by minimum wage for age until completion.

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.
What you'll do at work
Key Duties:
Assist in the provision of Pharmacy Aseptic Services, under direct supervision. This will include:
- Assisting in the assembly of the ingredients and equipment for product production, prepare labels and complete any documentation prior to the aseptic reconstitution process.
- Participating in the reconstitution and preparation of medicinal products.
- Cleaning of the aseptic suite including sterile and non‑sterile areas in accordance to the cleaning procedures.
- Providing agreed supportive clerical duties to assist pharmacy technicians and pharmacists within the suites.
- Assisting in the recording and maintenance of documentation which may include photocopying and filing.
- Participate in monitoring and recording activities such as pressure data, storage temperatures and handling agar plates as is required within the suites.
- Performing in‑process checks of aseptically prepared products.
- Using the trust based electronic ordering system to support stock supplies of consumable items for the aseptic unit.
Participate in the provision of reception duties within the Department this will include:
- Greeting Outpatients, hospital staff and visitors to the department.
- Overcoming any communication difficulties that patients may have in an appropriate and sensitive manner.

- Connect service connections for biotechnology process such as water, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic.
- Operate biotechnology equipment for example, start‑up, shut down, or cleaning mode.
- Set and adjust biotechnology process parameters such as agitation revolutions per minute, temperature, pressure, flow rate or time.
- Check calibration and calibrate analytical equipment.
- Conduct at point analysis of the product using laboratory techniques (bench top analysis) for example, pH, conductivity measurement, optical density measurements, and protein concertation.
- Apply quality assurance procedures. For example, conduct parameter checks (size, colour, weight), and take samples for laboratory testing.
- Remove and replace disposable components and check functionality for example, break lines, isolators, and tri‑clamps and tube welding.
- Conduct aseptic method for example, aseptic technique or aseptic sampling.
- Interpret drawings and graphs.
- Select, check, and prepare raw (incoming) materials for aseptic process for example, weighing, measuring, conditioning, dissolving, and sanitisation.
- Conduct pre‑checks of hand tools, equipment and machinery for aseptic process including calibration record where applicable.
- Operate aseptic process equipment for example, start‑up and shut‑down.
- Set aseptic process parameters such as temperature, and pressure.
- Conduct pre and in‑process checks such as environmental monitoring.
- Make adjustments to aseptic process parameters.

You will undertake a Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship with an Ofsted rated 'Outstanding' training provider, CSR Scientific Training, which will include:
- Fully recognised apprenticeship qualification - Level 3 Science Manufacturing Technician.
- On‑the‑job competency training.
- Theoretical knowledge - BTEC Level 3 Applied Science (if required).
Requirements
GCSE in:
x 5 including Maths, English and Science (grade C/4 or above)
Science or equivalent (grade C or above)
NVQ in:
Pharmacy Technical Services (grade Level 2)
Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.

Other requirements
Candidates must evidence they:
- Apprenticeships are UK Government funded qualifications so non‑UK nationals must have recourse to public funds on their visa to be eligible.
- Non‑UK nationals must also have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous 3 years (on the first day of the apprenticeship).
- Additionally you must have permission from the UK government to live in the UK (not for educational purposes) or have obtained pre‑settled or settled status under EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).
- If any of these conditions are not met you will not be eligible for apprenticeship funding.
- Do NOT already have a degree level qualification in Pharmacy or Aseptic Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing.
