Drive your career forward with this exciting apprenticeship opportunity. Our Service Technicians/Mechanics are involved in all aspects of maintenance and repair, from routine servicing to complex diagnostics and repairs on customers' vehicles.
Wage: £16,640 for your first year, may increase based on age.
Training course: Motor vehicle service and maintenance technician – light vehicle (Level 3).
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 17:30. Possibility of Saturday work or shifts. 40 hours per week. Working week will be confirmed on application.
Duration: 3 years.
What you'll do at work:
- Use diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle faults.
- Test parts and systems to ensure correct operation.
- Follow checklists to ensure all critical vehicle components are inspected.
- Carry out bumper‑to‑bumper overview, service, and inspection.
- Maintain electronic systems, including on‑board entertainment.
- Repair and maintain vehicle parts such as clutches, gearboxes, tyres, brakes, and suspension.
- Complete legible and accurate paperwork for customers and centre records.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
You will work with a wide range of vehicles – traditional, hybrid, and electronic engines – giving you a varied technical training experience as a Service Technician/Mechanic.

Training provider: INSPIRO LEARNING LIMITED
Training course: Contribute to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop; segregate waste for disposal or recycling, complying with environmental legislation.
Demonstrate due regard for own safety and that of others, minimizing risk of injury and vehicle damage. Carry out fundamental tasks associated with removal and replacement procedures on a vehicle. Obtain diagnostic and repair information. Interpret diagnostic information and use electrical wiring diagrams to determine system serviceability. Use a range of diagnostic equipment. Follow recognised diagnostic procedures, logical diagnostic sequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles and problem‑solving techniques to establish faults. Report faults using company procedures and recommend suitable further actions. Follow recognised repair procedures to complete a wide range of repairs, including those involving complex procedures or in‑depth knowledge. Test the function of repaired and fitted components. Adhere to business processes and complete documentation following workplace procedures. Use ICT to create emails, word‑process documents and carry out web‑based searches. Complete a range of services and inspect and prepare a vehicle to the required quality standard for handover to the customer.
Training will be delivered using a combination of virtual classroom remote learning and face‑to‑face block release weeks at our state‑of‑the‑art training centre. Successful applicants must be prepared to travel to the Volkswagen Group National Learning Centre in Milton Keynes to complete their apprenticeship training. All training‑related costs are fully covered, including travel, accommodation, and meals.
In the workplace, your personal, dedicated mentor will support your learning as you apply the skills and knowledge gained through remote sessions and at the Volkswagen Group National Learning Centre. As an apprentice, you will also have the opportunity to attend Outward Bound, supporting the development of resilience, confidence, and teamwork skills. This is a fully rounded training experience where you will build life skills and gain both apprenticeship qualifications and brand certifications.
On successful completion of the three‑year programme, you will receive: Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard – Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician (Light Vehicle) Brand‑specific certifications.
