Job Purpose: To ensure high-quality, patient-focused care through effective leadership and resource management. Adhere to the NMC Code of Practice, professional guidelines, and the Trust\’s 4ward Behaviours. As a named nurse/key worker, responsible for:

  • Providing accurate pre-operative patient information.
  • Ensuring follow-up and discharge preparations are complete prior to admission.
  • Conducting holistic clinical assessments and making appropriate referrals.
  • Providing health promotion and managing the unit in the absence of senior staff.
  • Developing skills and mentoring team members.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Participating in preceptorship and supporting staff development.
  • Liaising with consultants regarding surgical cancellations.

Working alongside the anaesthetic team, responsible for patient assessment, planning, and evaluation. Able to undertake advanced assessments, make referrals, and coordinate discharge. Ensuring effective communication, safeguarding, and promoting equality and diversity.
