Job Description Summary

Provide evening and weekend supervision and support for student staff at the Sports and Recreation Center in the absence of professional staff from the PERA department.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of operations, safety, and customer service at the Sports and Recreation Center.
  • Represent the PERA department positively to weekend users, including rentals and special events.
  • Respond to medical emergencies following proper protocol.
  • Assist with setup, maintenance, and cleanup for campus-wide events and rentals (e.g., athletic events, career fairs, open houses).
  • Handle communications: answer phones, take messages, and address questions from students, faculty, administration, staff, alumni, and visitors.
  • Coordinate mandatory in-service trainings and workshops for student employees each term.
  • Participate in maintenance management of PERA facilities.
  • Work scheduled weekend shifts punctually.
  • Supervise Control Desk student workers and delegate tasks.
  • Oversee Intercollegiate Club Sports home contests.
  • Communicate policies related to Recreational Sports effectively to users.
  • Assist with processing memberships, locker rentals, and renewals.
  • Update the WPI community on building features, signage, and scheduling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability to work weekends.
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings.
  • Certification or ability to be certified in CPR and First Aid.
  • Criminal background check required.
