Applications are warmly invited for the position of School Business Manager at Brinkworth Earl Danby’s Primary School. We are a split site school; you will mainly be based at our Lower Site in Dauntsey, with some time spent at the Upper Site in Brinkworth. The role is 35hrs/week (8:30 - 16:30hrs Mon - Thu & 8.30 - 14:00 hrs Fri), 40 weeks per year. This covers term time & TD days, plus 5 days across the school holidays, usually in the Easter holidays.

We are seeking a highly motivated and professional individual who will lead and manage all non-teaching functions of the school, which includes support staff across the teams (i.e. admin, catering). As an integral link into the Senior Leadership Team, this position has responsibility for providing effective leadership and management of all aspects of day to day finance and financial development, HR, premises, administration, contracts, marketing and resources. There is also a requirement to attend up to 6 business related Governor meetings each academic year.

  • Demonstrate relevant experience of managerial and financial duties at a strategic level;
  • Have an enthusiastic and highly motivated personality with the ability to work unsupervised;
  • Offer flexibility, adaptability, an eye for detail and excellent organisational skills;
  • Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to deal with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Be a team player, loyal, adaptable and very good at juggling priorities;
  • Have a high level of ICT literacy and the ability to use ICT to support and implement process improvement;
  • Offer proven managerial experience and skills;
  • Be committed to education and believe in the importance of educational goals of the school;
  • Be able to manage change and support development of the school;
  • Wish to work collaboratively with other schools;
  • Have the ability to work across the whole school community and support the inclusive ethos of the school.

The ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of school administration is an essential feature of this post, together with a good sense of humour.

Key Useful Experience
  • Finance skills, including budget setting, control, analysis and auditing. A relevant finance/accountancy qualification would be desirable, but is not essential.
  • HR/Payroll in a school
  • Maintaining a school's Single Central Record
  • Operational management background
  • Contract and supplier management
  • PR and marketing, including knowledge of software such as Canva.
  • H&S, compliance and site/facilities' management knowledge, preferably in a LA school
  • Data protection understanding
  • Holding a qualification in School Business Management, or an equivalent qualification would be an advantage. The school will support relevant training such as the Certificate of School Business Management for the appointed person.
  • A working knowledge of SIMS and FMS would be ideal, but again is not essential.
