We are a design led boutique Civil, Structural and Geo-environmental Engineering consultancy delivering projects across the UK. The Head Office of 55+ staff is based in Glasgow, with a busy growing design studio in Manchester. As part of our continued growth, our small, friendly geo-environmental engineering team is recruiting a motivated and passionate Project Geo-environmental Engineer to join us in supporting a range of structural and civil engineering projects. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a collaborative environment, working closely with experienced geo-scientists, engineers and technicians to help design the built environment in a sustainable and innovative manner.

The successful candidates will be passionate, talented, and enthusiastic. They will have a solid educational background and will be keen to be part of our active team. Woolgar Hunter will provide opportunity to work on a broad range of project types and scales, the majority of which are relatively local and likely to progress to construction stage, therefore allowing excellent experience. We work within a friendly studio environment that is creative, passionate, practical, and design focused in its approach.

We will encourage and expect the candidate to work toward chartership and would provide support through our mentoring. As part of the package, dedicated ‘Development Time’ will be granted to help enable professional development and progression to chartership. Routine Responsibilities
  • Undertaking desk-based geo-environmental research
  • Assisting with the design and interpretation of site investigations and data collection
  • Supporting interpretation of ground conditions in terms of land contamination and geotechnical engineering
  • Preparing technical reports and documentation
  • Working closely with structural and civil engineering colleagues to deliver project solutions
Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Geology/ Earth Sciences/ Geotechnical Engineering
  • Working towards chartership of chosen professional institution
  • Relevant prior professional experience as a geo-environmental engineer / engineering geologist / geotechnical engineer
  • 1 to 2 years experience with site development assessment / site investigation process
  • Strong data analytical skills
  • Capable and confident communication skills (verbal and written)
